Presso Cafe is a quietly inviting spot tucked into Burnaby’s Heights neighborhood, serving as a family-owned haven for coffee lovers and casual diners alike. The atmosphere here leans toward calm and personal rather than bustling or trendy — you’ll find attentive service that feels genuine, with the owners often circulating to check in on guests.

It’s an ideal place to drop in for a thoughtfully crafted coffee or to settle in for a simple meal. Locals seem to appreciate the balance of relaxed pace and quality offerings, especially on weekday mornings or early afternoons when the cafe maintains a peaceful vibe. The menu features fresh pastries and generous sandwiches, with options like house chicken sandwiches drawing praise for their hearty portions and well-made flavors. Expect freshly baked goods that complement the coffee without overshadowing it.

Presso Cafe’s appeal lies not just in what’s on the plate but in the care woven into the experience—a small neighborhood spot where details like bringing cream and milk directly to your table and multiple check-ins feel more like hospitality than routine service. This level of attentiveness makes it a fitting stop for those who enjoy laid-back cafe moments, working quietly, or catching up with a friend without noise or rush.

If you’re in the area around midday or early afternoon, it’s a nice place to pause away from larger chains or more crowded hubs. Families and solo coffee seekers alike seem to find comfort here, especially those who value supporting independent, community-centered businesses. Whether you’re ordering something sweet to pair with a coffee or a savory item for lunch, the friendly, low-key environment makes Presso a spot to revisit if you’re passing through or residing nearby.

Recently this former Waves location has become an independent cafe. Reopened with reduced hours, it appears to be family run and the quality is first rate. We tried the house chicken sandwich and pistachio rolled croissant. Wow! Fantastic! And the service was A+. Everything was brought to our table. Including the cream and milk for our coffee and tea. They came by several times to ask if we enjoyed our lunch. I highly recommend it. I've never seen the place so busy. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. All new furniture and decor as well. Quite the glow up.

They were so nice and quiet and gave me a mix between white and dark chocolate lol. That's the first time I had that and it's actually not bad Family owned cafe and highly recommend it. Will definitely come again if I visit this area.

A person would have to be completely out of their minds to say anything negative about this beautiful family-run cafe; first-class authentic service, excellent coffee. Pastries and sandwiches are freshly made every single day and they have beautiful personalities as sometimes they will go over the top to accommodate you. I'm a regular customer and I have fresh coffee everyday with a treat at times or a sandwich and I'm always impressed with the freshness of the food. They're beautiful and should be awarded for their excellent customer service alone, as they can teach other businesses manners and personality.

Amazing café run by an amazing woman who clearly takes pride in her work. It's a lovely small family business where everything from the food to the coffee is incredibly delicious. You can feel the care in every detail. Highly recommended!

This is a newly opened cafe in the Heights neighborhood. It's family owned and I believe they work in the Cafe themselves. Very nice family and walks around the Cafe to check on everyone and their food. Had the grilled chicken with soup, which was a lot of food, you can definitely share with two people if not super hungry . Sandwich quality was excellent and very tasty and broccoli soup was good as well. Had some latte as well, excellent espresso flavour. I would definitely come back for the Italian Sandwich and yes half is plenty! There are also desserts to choose from. We were recommended to try the loaves as they are baked in-house. I will definitely give it a try next time. Definitely worth a visit.

This cozy coffee shop in Hastings offers great coffee and a lovely atmosphere. It might be nice if they could rearrange the tables a bit—currently, they're a little small and can make it tricky to fully enjoy your cup of coffee. Still, it's a really warm and inviting place!

Another local spot for coffee and pastries on Hastings in North Burnaby. This place is in a great location, right on the corner. There are a few tables and the usual counters along the window to sit down inside. It's nice and bright. The couple running it have been in biz for about 14 years, but only under this new brand for about less than a year. Good coffee and nice assortment of loose leaf teas. The pastries look tasty, although I didn't get any.

I come here at least once a week to study and the atmosphere is amazing. I always get either a hot vanilla matcha latte or an espresso frappe, both are so good. For food I would 100% recommend the veggie sandwich! They also give student discounts if you have your ID, and they have a private study/conference room at the back you can book! Amazing family owned cafe, the staff are so kind!!
